Mawsley Football Club expands – players and coaches sought

Mawsley FC is an FA affiliated club that has just celebrated its first birthday.  The club has made a superb start thanks to the enthusiasm of the committee, coaches, players and parents.  We focus on developing players at child and youth level and are looking to recruit new players and coaches to expand our roster of teams to meet demand in Mawsley and the surrounding area.  Players of all ages are welcome at our Saturday morning training sessions.

New Under-8s
The already club has a thriving Under-8s team that will shortly complete its first season of competition in the Kettering area Weetabix league.  We are setting up a second team at this level for one-day tournaments during the summer months and also to enter the Weetabix league next season.   So if your child is Under-8, bring them along to join the fun!

New Under-10s
We are now building a squad for the Under-10s (meaning boys and girls who are under 10 on 31 August 2009).  In this age group children play 7-a-side matches, which are an excellent way to develop skills and confidence before they move onto 11-a-side games in the Under-11s.  It is a new team and all players are welcome, so come and join in.  There will be one-day tournaments in the summer at which to practice and we are aiming to enter the team in the Weetabix league in September.

Other age groups
We also want to run teams for older children e.g. under-11s, under 13s etc, if the demand is there and we can provide the right coaches.  If you want to start a team, coach one or just help with practice sessions, then please let us know.  The club will pay for designated team coaches to take the FA Level  1 coaching qualification at a local venue.

Saturday morning is football morning
If your child would like to join or you would like to get involved in any capacity, please come along to our practice sessions on any Saturday morning from 10.00-11.00am at the playing field by the Centre at Mawsley.   There is a charge of £1.50 per child per session and they should bring a drink, football boots and shin pads if they have them, and sports clothing.
