Employment Area - Mawsley Village

The Parish Council is in receipt of a full planning application, submitted by City and County Developments Ltd, for the development of the Employment Area on land to the east of The Green in Mawsley.

The plans provide for a development consisting of retail units, take away, day nursery, offices and a small number of residential flats. Quoting from the Design Statement, the development "will be sympathetic in its proximity to nearby properties and the open countryside" and will offer "an opportunity to provide viable employment in appropriate, sensitively designed buildings, that complement and enhance the visual amenity of the locality". The overall design provides for an "introspective layout" which will ensure that "there is no overlooking or other loss of amenity to its neighbours". "The philosophy behind the site and the building design relate to a desire to create a cluster of buildings replicating the way in which a traditional farm courtyard may have evolved" which "allows the opportunity to create buildings of different heights, roof pitches with a rich blend of materials".

The Parish Council has been consulted during various phases of the development of the overall scheme for the Employment Area and will have the chance to debate the planning application at its next meeting to be held on 3 rd July 2006 at the Village Hall, Cransley, commencing at 7.30pm. All meetings of the Parish Council are open to the general public and, should you wish to make any comments on the proposed development, you are more than welcome to attend. Following this meeting, the agreed position of the Parish Council will be advised to the Borough Planning Department. Any comments made by the Parish Council will be taken into consideration by the Borough Councils Planning Committee when they determine whether planning permission should be granted.

The full planning application and associated documentation are available for inspection at the Parish Office, Rosemary House, 1 Main Street , Mawsley. Should you wish to view the plans please contact Richard Meredith on 791539, or via email at pc@mawsleyvillage.co.uk, to arrange a suitable time. Unfortunately, as only one full set of supporting plans has been received they will need to be retained at the Parish Office and cannot be released to individuals.
