Coffee Club visits Bruges
Six intrepid Coffee Clubbers went to the Bruges/Ghent
Christmas Markets and more importantly the 'Chocolate
Shops'. Although the weather was against us (it teemed
down) it didn't dampen the shopping spirit. Drenched
through, we sat in a coffee shop and treated ourselves
to the special hot chocolate - a cup of steaming milk
with a chunk of chocolate on a stick to melt in it, sheer
heaven!! The Christmas markets were beautiful; the
Continentals really know how to do Christmas.
Sunday saw us shopping again at 'Cite Europe', French
bread, cheese and wine, we did it all. Only then did we
find out that the ferries had been cancelled on Saturday
because of stormy weather and were running two hours
late, so there we sat dreading the crossing back, but
fortunately it wasn't too bad. The Captain assured us the
stabilisers were on, but having 'Duty Free' helped. The
time soon went and there were the white cliffs and
home. We were tired and very weary but
all agreed we had had a great time, a good
laugh and lots of chocolate, so thank you
Pat for arranging it all and where are we
going next? Eurostar to Paris for lunch!!!
